The Arab American University - Ramallah Campus welcomed a delegation from the Municipality of Sarda Abu Qash in a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation in implementing joint cultural and community activities that contribute to serving and developing the local community.

The past period witnessed joint cooperation between the Arab American University and the Municipality of Sarda Abu Qash, exemplified by the active participation of University students in the Palestinian Heritage Day events recently held in the town. 

 The events included a range of cultural and community activities, most notably the “Souq Al Shaghour” event, which highlighted aspects of Palestinian folk heritage. Additionally, university and school students participated in painting murals in the towns of Sarda and Abu Qash, demonstrating a spirit of belonging, volunteerism, and teamwork, and reflecting the depth of the partnership and cooperation between the University and the municipality in serving the local community.

The municipal delegation included Mayor Mohammad Ramadan and Ms. Balqis Al-Ja’bari from the Public Relations and Media Department. They were received by Professor Dr. Mohammad Asia, Vice President of the University for the Ramallah Campus; Mr. Mohammad Sabaaneh, Director of Student Affairs; Dr. Rania Nabulsi from Student Affairs; and Ms. Samah Naifeh, Director of the Communications and Public Relations Department. 

Dr. Asia emphasized the University’s pride in this partnership, which reflects its mission to serve the community and strengthen national identity. He commended the students’ voluntary and creative contributions during their participation in cultural and national events. He noted that the University prioritizes community service and seeks to expand cooperation with local institutions to promote sustainable development.

For his part, Mr. Mohammad Ramadan expressed the municipality’s appreciation to the University, praising its ongoing support for municipal activities and its active participation in community initiatives. He affirmed that this cooperation represents a distinguished model of partnership between higher education institutions and local bodies, contributing to strengthening national belonging and serving the community in the Sarda and Abu Qash areas.

At the end of the meeting, prospects for future cooperation in cultural, community and development fields were discussed, in order to enhance the participation of University students in voluntary initiatives and local projects, and to consolidate the complementary relationship between AAUP and local community institutions.
